Los resultados revelan la existencia de un equilibrio entre dos conformaciones (abierta y cerrada) en el caso de la prote\u00edna libre, equilibrio que se desplaza a la forma cerrada cuando p53 se une a la secuencia espec\u00edfica de adn. 3. En los modelos tridimensionales obtenidos mediante microscopia electr\u00f3nica se han podido encajar las estructuras tanto del dominio central o de uni\u00f3n al adn, como del dominio de tetramerizaci\u00f3n resueltas por cristalograf\u00eda de rayos x y\/o rmn. 4. El dominio extendido n-terminal esta completamente expuesto en la estructura cuaternaria. Esta conformaci\u00f3n le permite ser modificado f\u00e1cilmente a nivel postraduccional y a su vez unirse a varias prote\u00ednas que regulan su actividad, como mdm2, p300, y rpa. 5. Los resultados obtenidos en este trabajo constituyen la primera informaci\u00f3n estructural disponible acerca del complejo tetram\u00e9rico completo entre p53 y el adn, y sugieren la uni\u00f3n simult\u00e1nea de dominios de reconocimiento espec\u00edfico y no espec\u00edfico. 6. El comportamiento din\u00e1mico de los tetr\u00e1meros sobre el adn parece estar relacionado con la habilidad de p53 de deslizarse sobre el adn para localizar los sitios espec\u00edficos de
