En concreto, las cardiopat\u00edas isqu\u00e9micas, para las que no existe tratamiento curativo, son responsables de 7.5 millones de muertes al a\u00f1o. La medicina regenerativa consiste en el uso de tejidos, c\u00e9lulas o factores para reparar o remplazar un tejido o funci\u00f3n tisular da\u00f1ados, como en el caso de la isquemia card\u00edaca. En esta tesis se describe la reprogramaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas pluripotentes inducidas (ips, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), la caracterizaci\u00f3n de su potencial cardiog\u00e9nico in vitro y su utilizaci\u00f3n como tratamiento en un modelo de infarto de miocardio en rat\u00f3n. tras los experimentos realizados en este trabajo, podemos concluir que es posible reprogramar el estado de pluripotencia en fibroblastos embrionarios murinos mediante transducci\u00f3n lentiviral de los factores de transcripci\u00f3n oct4, sox2 y klf4 en presencia o ausencia de c-myc. Adem\u00e1s, las c\u00e9lulas reprogramadas cumplen criterios rigurosos de pluripotencia incluyendo cambios morfol\u00f3gicos, expresi\u00f3n in vitro de marcadores espec\u00edficos, formaci\u00f3n de teratomas in vivo,  integraci\u00f3n en embriones en estadios tempranos y contribuci\u00f3n a la organog\u00e9nesis embrionaria.  las c\u00e9lulas pluripotentes inducidas son cardiog\u00e9nicas, generando mediante diferenciaci\u00f3n espont\u00e1nea c\u00e9lulas con morfolog\u00eda y caracter\u00edsticas funcionales propias de cardiomiocitos en desarrollo; sin embargo, la presencia del oncog\u00e9n c-myc durante el proceso de reprogramaci\u00f3n tiene efectos negativos sobre la cardiogenicidad de las c\u00e9lulas pluripotentes inducidas. las ips son capaces de implantarse de manera sostenida en el miocardio post-isqu\u00e9mico del rat\u00f3n inmunocompetente sin originar teratomas.
