Esta activacion no es medida ni por la interleuquinal ni por los glucocorticoides, segun estudios realizados mediante el tratamiento de animales portadores del tumor con antagonistas de los receptores de estos factores. En cambio el tratamiento con anticuerpos anti-factor necrotico tumoral alfa (tnf), bloquea la activacion del sistema proteolitico dependiente de ubiquitina, esto indica que el tnf juega un importante papel en la activacion de la degradacion proteica muscular que tiene lugar en los animales portadores del tumor de yoshida.  este efecto se produce mediante la union del tnf a su receptor de tipo 1, segun estudios realizados con ratones deficientes para este receptor. El tratamiento de ratas portadoras del tumor de yoshida con acidos grasos poliinsaturados no tiene ningun efecto ni sobre el crecimiento del tumor ni sobre la aumentada degradacion proteica muscular. En cambio, el tratamiento con un agonista beta2-adrenergico, el clenbuterol, evita la perdida de masa muscular mediante el bloqueo de la activacion de la degradacion dependiente de
