Se han utilizado 230 ratas macho de la cepa wistar. A los 18 dias de edad de las ratas se repartieron en 10 grupos de 20 y en tres grupos de 10. Para inducir caries se inoculo el streptococo mutans y se alimentaron con una dieta cariogenica. El tratamiento se realizo durante 6 semanas.  se determino el consumo de bebida y comida, incremento de peso, flujo salival estimulado, concentracion de fluor en saliva y valor de caries.  la xerostomia producida por la clomipramina es completamente reversible con un farmaco agonista colinergico. La clomipramina aumenta la concentracion de fluor en saliva, en cambio, la pilocarpina la disminuye.  el fluor, solo cuando se administra por via sistemica, aumenta la concentracion de fluor en saliva. Los animales tratados con clomipramina han desarrollado un 40% mas caries que los animales no tratados. El fluor 10ppm administrado en el agua de bebida y la administracion cronica de pilocarpina disminuye respectivamente un 30% y un 25% el valor de caries tanto en animales tratados con clomipramina com en los no tratados. Los efectos cariostaticos de la pilocarpina y del fluor administrado con el agua de bebida son antagonicos si ambas sustancias se aplican simultaneamente. Hemos observado que tanto la aplicacion topica del fluoruro sodico (0.2, como la del fluoruro sodico liposomado (0.1%) reducen hasta un 60% el valor de caries en ratas tratadas con clomipramina. Este modelo, en el que disponemos de ratas en las que se ha inducido una xerostomia reversible, puede ser util para valorar nuevas sustancias cariostaticas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
