Los modelos animales son esenciales para comprender la historia natural de estas enfermedades y para el ensayo de tratamientos. Se pueden utilizar distintas t\u00e9cnicas para monitorizar modelos animales de enfermedad pulmonar, por ejemplo tests de funci\u00f3n respiratoria o histolog\u00eda. La tomograf\u00eda computerizada por rayos-x (micro-ct) es una tecnolog\u00eda m\u00ednimamente invasiva que permite obtener im\u00e1genes tridimensionales de los pulmones.  en varios estudios previos, se ha demostrado que el micro-ct es una herramienta v\u00e1lida para evaluar la progresi\u00f3n de la enfermedad pulmonar en modelos animales, especialmente en roedores. En esta tesis, se propone un protocolo de adquisici\u00f3n de datos que se puede utilizar incluso con animales gravemente enfermos. El protocolo incluye intubaci\u00f3n endotraqueal, tests de funci\u00f3n respiratoria y apneas controladas a presi\u00f3n constante para evitar artefactos causados por el movimiento. Tambi\u00e9n se han desarrollado m\u00e9todos de segmentaci\u00f3n y an\u00e1lisis de imagen para cuantificar los efectos de la enfermedad en las im\u00e1genes tor\u00e1cicas de micro-ct. Estos m\u00e9todos permiten obtener medidas del par\u00e9nquima pulmonar y de las v\u00edas a\u00e9reas por separado. Adem\u00e1s, se ha contribuido signicativamente al campo de la segmentaci\u00f3n basada en atlas, de aplicaci\u00f3n en m\u00faltiples modalidades de imagen y problemas de segmentaci\u00f3n.  utilizando los m\u00e9todos desarrollados, se han caracterizado tres modelos animales de enfermedad pulmonar: enfisema inducido por elastasa, inflamaci\u00f3n pulmonar cr\u00f3nica inducida por s\u00edlice, y c\u00e1ncer pulmonar inducido por uretano combinado con enfisema. Los datos de micro-ct se han complementado con otras t\u00e9cnicas.  los resultados demuestran la utilidad del micro-ct y el an\u00e1lisis automatizado de im\u00e1genes para medir el efecto de distintas enfermedades pulmonares en modelos animales. Los m\u00e9todos presentados en esta tesis ser\u00e1n de utilidad para caracterizar otros modelos de enfermedad pulmonar, y tambi\u00e9n para el ensayo de tratamientos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
