Para poder crecer en un hospedador susceptible, a. Fumigatus debe obtener todos los nutrientes que precisa a partir de sus tejidos, incluyendo micronutrientes esenciales como el zinc. En relaci\u00f3n a la homeostasis del zinc en a. Fumigatus, previamente hab\u00edan sido descritos los genes zrfa y zrfb, que codifican transportadores de la familia zip encargados de la adquisici\u00f3n de zinc en ambientes \u00e1cidos limitantes en este metal, y el factor de transcripci\u00f3n zafa, que activa la expresi\u00f3n de esos genes en condiciones limitantes del cati\u00f3n. En este trabajo de tesis doctoral se han estudiado los genes zrfc y aspf2, demostr\u00e1ndose que componen el sistema alcalino de adquisici\u00f3n de zinc. La expresi\u00f3n de este sistema est\u00e1 regulada a nivel transcripcional por los factores zafa (que activa su expresi\u00f3n en condiciones limitantes de zinc) y pacc (que reprime su expresi\u00f3n a ph \u00e1cido). El gen zrfc codifica un transportador de zinc necesario para el crecimiento del hongo en medios alcalinos limitantes en este metal. Adem\u00e1s, zrfc presenta un extremo amino distintivo fundamental para realizar su funci\u00f3n, que determina una nueva subfamilia de prote\u00ednas zip, las cuales est\u00e1n presentes exclusivamente en hongos. El gen aspf2 codifica el ant\u00edgeno inmunodominante aspf2, que participa de alguna manera a\u00fan no descrita en la homeostasis del zinc en ambientes muy limitantes. Por \u00faltimo, mediante modelos murinos de aspergilosis invasiva, se ha demostrado que la capacidad de obtener zinc es fundamental para la virulencia de a.
