Sin embargo, aspectos especialmente relevantes de la fisiolog\u00eda de este sistema, tales como el inicio de su efecto estimulador de la liberaci\u00f3n de gnrh\/gonadotropinas, los principales sistemas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de estas acciones y su posible contribuci\u00f3n en el control metab\u00f3lico de la reproducci\u00f3n, a\u00fan permanecen insuficientemente caracterizados.  el presente trabajo de tesis doctoral demuestra que kp-10 es capaz de estimular potentemente la liberaci\u00f3n de gnrh\/lh en etapas tempranas del desarrollo postnatal, vi\u00e9ndose aumentada la sensibilidad a sus efectos estimuladores a lo largo de la transici\u00f3n puberal. Adem\u00e1s, nuestros resultados indican que los mecanismos de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n de las acciones estimuladoras de kp-10 implican la activaci\u00f3n de la plc, la movilizaci\u00f3n de ca2+ intracelular y el reclutamiento de las quinasas intracelulares erk1\/2 y p38. Por \u00faltimo, nuestros estudios en diversos modelos de insuficiencia energ\u00e9tica ponen de manifiesto una disminuci\u00f3n de la expresi\u00f3n hipotal\u00e1mica de kiss1\/kisspeptina; fen\u00f3meno que contribuye a la etiopatog\u00e9nesis del hipogonadismo hipogonadotropo observado en tales condiciones, en las que el tratamiento con kp-10 permite mejorar dicho fenotipo. En este contexto, la leptina resulta un regulador metab\u00f3lico esencial de la expresi\u00f3n hipotal\u00e1mica de kiss1\/kisspeptina. en su conjunto, estas observaciones confirman la relevancia del sistema kiss1\/gpr54 en la activaci\u00f3n del eje gonadotropo en la pubertad y ponen de manifiesto su papel esencial en el control metab\u00f3lico de la funci\u00f3n
