Gray (asteraceae) y chuquiraga spinosa (r. Et p.) D. Don (asteraceae), dos plantas muy empleadas en la medicina tradicional de per\u00fa. se prepararon extractos polares (metan\u00f3licos, etan\u00f3licos 50% y acuosos) a partir de las partes a\u00e9reas secas y tambi\u00e9n  de acetato de etilo y diclorometano en el caso de j. Paniculata. los extractos polares de las dos especies mostraron actividad antirradicalaria frente a tres radicales libres (dpph&#729;, abts&#729;+ y radical super\u00f3xido). no se detect\u00f3 actividad inhibitoria de la enzima acetilcolinesterasa en ninguno de los extractos.  los extractos acuoso e hidroalcoh\u00f3lico de c. Spinosa presentaron actividad antif\u00fangica frente a candida albicans (dosis m\u00ednima inhibitoria de 2,50 \u00c2\u00b5g y 6,25 \u00c2\u00b5g, respectivamente).  los extractos de acetato de etilo y diclorometano de j. Paniculata fueron los m\u00e1s activos frente a rhizopus stolonifer, alcanzando valores en torno al 50% de inhibici\u00f3n. Ninguno de los extractos de chuquiraga spinosa super\u00f3 un porcentaje de inhibici\u00f3n de 20%. otro de los objetivos de este trabajo de investigaci\u00f3n fue ampliar el conocimiento acerca de la composici\u00f3n qu\u00edmica de ambas especies. en jungia paniculata se identificaron luteol\u00edn-7-o-ramnosil-glucuronosil-glucur\u00f3nido y apigen\u00edn-7-o-ramnosil-glucuronosil-glucur\u00f3nido y tres \u00e1cidos fen\u00f3licos (\u00e1cido clorog\u00e9nico, \u00e1cido cafeico y \u00e1cido dicafeoilqu\u00ednico).  se aislaron e identificaron tres flavonoides acilados en los extractos de chuquiraga spinosa: quercet\u00edn-3-o-&#946;-d-(6\u00c2\u00bf-feruloil)-gluc\u00f3sido, kaemferol-3-o-&#946;-d-(6\u00c2\u00bf-feruloil)-gluc\u00f3sido e isoramnet\u00edn-3-o-&#946;-d-(6\u00c2\u00bf-feruloil)-gluc\u00f3sido, adem\u00e1s de dos derivados de \u00e1cido cafeico. Ninguno de estos compuestos hab\u00eda sido descrito previamente en estas especies. se cuantific\u00f3 la actividad antioxidante frente al dpph&#729; de los flavonoides y derivados de \u00e1cidos
