En lo referente a la definicion de grabado catalan, hemos considerado propia toda la produccion catalana realizada en catalu\u00f1a por autores catalanes o foraneos, asi como todos los grabados calcograficos realizados fuera de nuestro ambito geografico por grabadores de origen catalan, o extranjero, que representaran temas catalanes o que cumplieran encargos de ediciones catalanas.  hemos estructurado el texto en dos partes. La primera, mas general, sintetiza la informacion obtenida sobre el tema i trata aspectos como la funcion y el lenguaje de la imagen grafica, su produccion y consumo, su literatura artistica, sus protagonistas, etc. La segunda, mas detallada, presenta y analiza todo el material grafico y documental localizado de forma monografica a traves de los cuarenta grabadores
