Tras la obtencion de veinte biotipos se realizo una caracterizacion exhaustiva de los mismos, que condujo a su ubicacion taxonomica.  entre las cepas estudiadas cabe se\u00f1alar la singularidad del biotipo en10, que junto a otros aislamientos de origen antartico, obtenidos en un trabajo anterior, constituye el hallazgo de una nueva especie de pseudoalteromonas, para la cual hemos propuesto el nombre pseudoalteromonas antarctica. En10 se caracteriza por acumular un exopolimero de naturaleza glicoproteica. La hidrolisis de la fraccion proteica de la glicoproteina producida por en10, revelo la presencia de 16 aminoacidos distintos y en el analisis de la composicion de los carbohidratos se detecto la presencia mayoritaria de glucosa y de cantidades significativas de galactosa, n-acetilglucosamina y n-acetilgalactosamina.  tambien se observo el material acumulado por en10 mediante la tecnica de microscopia de fuerza atomica, demostrandose que esta compuesto por subunidades estructurales de forma y tama\u00f1o homogeneos.  y finalmente, se detecto en la nuevaespecie descrita (p.  antarctica) la presencia de una lamina s, que reviste la membrana externa.
