Este algoritmo ha sido dise\u00f1ado para ser utilizado en el c\u00e1lculo de par\u00e1metros de monitorizaci\u00f3n ambulatoria de presi\u00f3n arterial (mapa). La determinaci\u00f3n autom\u00e1tica y precisa de ciclos de actividad y descanso es cr\u00edtica en aplicaciones de evaluaci\u00f3n de riesgo cardiovascular, incluyendo la clasificaci\u00f3n dipper\/no-dipper y el diagn\u00f3stico de hipertensi\u00f3n. El algoritmo propuesto utiliza filtrado adaptativo basado en rangos, l\u00f3gica de decisi\u00f3n y procesado morfol\u00f3gico. La validaci\u00f3n y caracterizaci\u00f3n del algoritmo fue llevada a cabo en una base de datos de 104 sujetos, con se\u00f1ales de actigraf\u00eda medidas de forma simult\u00e1nea en la mano dominante y la no dominante (es decir, 208 se\u00f1ales de actigraf\u00eda). El rendimiento del algoritmo fue comparado con el de otros algoritmos disponibles en dos bases de datos de actigraf\u00eda.  adem\u00e1s de la contribuci\u00f3n ingenieril, otra contribuci\u00f3n de este trabajo consiste en un estudio cl\u00ednico cuyo prop\u00f3sito es el de comparar los par\u00e1metros de mapa obtenidos a partir de tres m\u00e9todos distintos para determinar per\u00edodos de actividad y descanso (un horario fijo, un diario, y el algoritmo propuesto). El estudi\u00f3 incluy\u00f3 c\u00e1lculo de medidas de estad\u00edstica descriptiva y coeficientes de correlaci\u00f3n, tests de normalidad de lilliefors, as\u00ed como tests de medias y medianas. Tambi\u00e9n se realizaron gr\u00e1ficas de bland-altman, diagramas de dispersi\u00f3n, tests de mcnemar y mcnemar-bowker, y se calcularon los correspondientes \u00edndices $kappa$ para estudiar la concordancia de la clasificaci\u00f3n de sujetos en dippers y no-dippers y el diagn\u00f3stico de hipertensi\u00f3n usando los distintos m\u00e9todos. Bas\u00e1ndose en los resultados de este estudio, es posible identificar las ventajas, a nivel de grupo y a nivel individual, de utilizar el algoritmo propuesto en aplicaciones de
