Estas lactonas presentan tanto una funcionalizacion como una estereoquimica particular. En el caso de las eudesmanolidas, estas caracteristicas son las siguientes:  metilo angular con orientacion alfa, anillo de  -lactona cis-beta,beta y grupo hidroxi o aciloxi en el carbono c-11.  en la presente memoria se describe una metodolog\u00eda sintetica que permite el acceso a este tipo de metabolitos con esta estereoquimica especifica. Dicha metodolog\u00eda consiste en la condensacion aldolica de octalonas que presentan un grupo carbonilo en el carbono c-6 con piruvato de metilo y posterior reduccion del hidroxicetoester resultante.  el grupo metilo axial introduce serios condicionantes estericos que impiden el acceso de los reductores por la cara alfa de la molecula.
