Por ello, podr\u00edan ser incorporados en un futuro en protocolos de teleoftalmolog\u00eda para el control de esta enfermedad. Los oct de dominio espectral han presentado una menor tasa de fracaso en la detecci\u00f3n del engrosamiento retiniano que los m\u00e9todos basados en im\u00e1genes fundusc\u00f3picas, con un 0% de fracasos utilizando cirrus hd no midri\u00e1tico y spectralis no midri\u00e1tico y un 11,42% para el topcon 3d no midri\u00e1tico. Los tres sistemas de oct no midri\u00e1ticos han mostrado validez interna en el diagn\u00f3stico del edema macular diab\u00e9tico para un punto de corte de 270 micras a nivel foveal cuando son comparados con la biomicroscop\u00eda con lente de no contacto y respecto a cada sistema de oct utilizado bajo midriasis. El cirrus hd no midri\u00e1tico mostr\u00f3 el mejor rendimiento de sensibilidad\/especificidad al compararlo con la biomicroscop\u00eda (94,6%\/78,8%) para ese punto de corte, as\u00ed como la mayor capacidad discriminativa de enfermedad (auc: 0,94). Los tres sistemas de oct no midri\u00e1ticos obtienen distintos valores de espesor retiniano en sus mediciones, siendo las diferencias estad\u00edsticamente significativas entre s\u00ed y por lo tanto los valores obtenidos no son intercambiables.
