Se han caracterizado nuevas cepas de nucleopoliedrovirus desde el punto de vista morfologico, bioquimico y biologico.  algunas de las cepas han resultado ser especificas para s. Exigua y variantes genotipicas de las ya conocidas, mientras que dos cepas mostraron un mayor espectro de actividad, lo que representan los primeros aislamientos en esta especie de cepas de vpn no especificas. Se ha puesto de manifiesto la capacidad de transmision del vpn de una generacion del hospedante a la siguiente por contaminacion de la superficie externa de los huevos durante la oviposicion. Se ha determinado y comparado las actividades insecticidas de las cepas aisladas, en base al calculo de las dosis letales medias y tiempos letales medios. Se han llevado a cabo ensayos de campo para conocer la persistencia de la actividad del vpn y su eficacia para el control de las poblaciones larvarias de s. Exigua en algodon y alfalfa. Los resultados obtenidos ofrecen grandes perspectivas para el uso de este patogeno como materia activa de insecticidas microbianos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
