En cada uno de estos estados de polarizaci\u00f3n, la s\u00edntesis de nueva pared celular es necesaria para mantener tanto la forma como la integridad de la c\u00e9lula. En nuestro grupo estudiamos la regulaci\u00f3n de la s\u00edntesis del (1,3)-glucano, que es el componente mayoritario de la pared. La enzima encargada de la bios\u00edntesis de este pol\u00edmero es la (1,3)-gluc\u00e1n sintasa (gs) que es una enzima multim\u00e9rica formada por un componente catal\u00edtico y un componente regulador (la gtpasa rho1p). El objetivo de este trabajo consiste en la caracterizaci\u00f3n de nuevos componentes que act\u00faen por encima de la ruta rho1p\/pck1p\/pck2p que regula la integridad celular en schizosaccharomyces pombe. las prote\u00ednas mtl2p y wsc1p de s. Pombe presentan caracter\u00edsticas estructurales similares a los \u00absensores\u00bb de s. Cerevisiae wsc1p y mid2p. Un \u00fanico dominio transmembrana, que conecta las prote\u00ednas con la larga regi\u00f3n extracelular, un dominio citoplasm\u00e1tico en el extremo carboxilo terminal, y un ectodominio peripl\u00e1smico rico en serinas y treoninas. Se localizan en la superficie celular pero de manera diferente, mtl2p se distribuye por toda la periferia de la c\u00e9lula y en el septo. Wsc1p se localiza de forma polarizada y aparece m\u00e1s concentrada en \u00abpeque\u00f1os gr\u00e1nulos\u00bb en los polos de la c\u00e9lula y  participan en la regulaci\u00f3n de la integridad celular donde desarrollan una funci\u00f3n esencial. La deleci\u00f3n simult\u00e1nea de mtl2+ y wsc1+ es letal. Mtl2p y wsc1p participan en la activaci\u00f3n de rho1p y los dos interaccionan gen\u00e9ticamente con rgf1p (un gef de rho1p). Wsc1p est\u00e1 involucrada en la regulaci\u00f3n de la bios\u00edntesis de b(1,3)-glucano y probablemente tambi\u00e9n en la de a(1,3)-glucano. Las c\u00e9lulas que sobreexpresan wsc1p presentan un incremento general en la cantidad total de pared celular y deposiciones aberrantes de calcofl\u00faor. Adem\u00e1s, wsc1p es necesario para la activaci\u00f3n de rgf1p al menos en condiciones de estr\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
