Eventualmente, por sobredosis accidental o hipersensibilidad individual, puede producirse una mielopat\u00eda post-irradiaci\u00f3n que se manifiesta cl\u00ednicamente por paresia, hipoestesia o parestesias y raramente, un s\u00edndrome de segunda motoneurona progresivo y muy discapacitante.  el objetivo del trabajo es evaluar mediante estudios electrofisiol\u00f3gicos e histopatol\u00f3gicos las lesiones medulares y\/o radiculares producidas por una dosis baja y \u00fanica de irradiaci\u00f3n de 22 gy con fotones de  rayos x en la regi\u00f3n lumbo-sacra de la m\u00e9dula espinal de 19 ratas de 4 meses de edad a los 12 meses post-irradiaci\u00f3n.  el estudio electromiogr\u00e1fico de los m\u00fasculos gemelos de ambas extremidades inferiores no mostr\u00f3 signos de actividad denervativa aguda (fibrilaciones, ondas positivas) post-irradiaci\u00f3n. Los diferentes par\u00e1metros (latencia, amplitud y duraci\u00f3n del potencial compuesto motor) de la conducci\u00f3n motora del nervio ci\u00e1tico recogiendo la respuesta en m\u00fasculos plantares, no mostraron diferencias significativas entre los estudios pre y post-irradiaci\u00f3n que indicaran p\u00e9rdida de unidades motoras por lesi\u00f3n de las astas y\/o ra\u00edces anteriores de la m\u00e9dula. Tampoco se observ\u00f3 un aumento de la latencia de la onda f post-irradiaci\u00f3n. Su retraso hubiese orientado hacia una posible desmielinizaci\u00f3n de las ra\u00edces anteriores de la m\u00e9dula.  el estudio de potenciales evocados somatosensoriales obtenidos con electrodos superficiales cef\u00e1licos tras las estimulaci\u00f3n del nervio plantar interno no mostr\u00f3 diferencias significativas en las latencias y amplitudes p2-n2, entre los grupos de ratas control y sometidas a radiaci\u00f3n, pero s\u00ed en la amplitud p1-n1. En consecuencia, no se detect\u00f3 ninguna alteraci\u00f3n significativa en la conducci\u00f3n de la v\u00eda somest\u00e9sica central.   estos hallazgos est\u00e1n en consonancia con los resultados de los estudios histopatol\u00f3gicos e inmunocitoqu\u00edmicos realizados en la regi\u00f3n lumbo-sacra de la m\u00e9dula de las ratas. En efecto, no se detectaron lesiones vasculares, desmielinizaci\u00f3n o signos degenerativos en las neuronas o gl\u00eda.  Entre los factores que han podido influir en los resultados, se postulan la baja dosis de irradiaci\u00f3n, el corto tiempo de seguimiento tras la irradiaci\u00f3n y posiblemente el reducido n\u00famero de ratas estudiadas. Finalmente, puede concluirse que dosis de irradiaci\u00f3n de 22 gy no parece ser lesiva en la regi\u00f3n lumbo-sacra de la m\u00e9dula espinal de ratas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
