La conclusi\u00f3n general de los experimentos preliminares anteriores a este trabajo era la existencia de un receptor mt3 que reduc\u00eda la pio  con la participaci\u00f3n del sistema nervioso. Sin embargo, se desconoc\u00eda su ubicaci\u00f3n, de qu\u00e9 forma influye el sistema nervioso y qu\u00e9 proceso de la din\u00e1mica del humor acuoso controla. en base a estos hechos, en esta tesis doctoral se ha estudiado la ac ci\u00f3n de la melatonina sobre los receptores mt2 en relaci\u00f3n con la presi\u00f3n intraocular, como continuaci\u00f3n del estudio realizado para el receptor mt3. Se ha descrito la implicaci\u00f3n y regulaci\u00f3n del sistema nervioso en el efecto que produce la melatonin a y sus an\u00e1logos sobre la presi\u00f3n intraocular. Se han localizado los receptores de melatonina mt2 en los procesos ciliares y se ha identificado el receptor mt3 como un verdadero receptor de melatonina diferente de la enzima quinona reductasa 2. Se ha  determinado el efecto biol\u00f3gico que produce la melatonina y sus an\u00e1logos en la din\u00e1mica del humor acuoso y se ha conseguido vehiculizar el agonista 5-mca-nat en solventes de uso habitual en oftalmolog\u00eda, abriendo las puertas a una posible aplicaci\u00f3n  cl\u00ednica del compuesto para tratar la hipertensi\u00f3n ocular y el glaucoma.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
