Recientemente se ha propuesto una extensi\u00f3n de la t\u00e9cnica del seis puertos a frecuencias \u00f3pticos, sirviendo como alternativa a la reflectometr\u00eda \u00f3ptica en el dominio de la frecuencia (ofdr). El objetivo de esta tesis es la implementaci\u00f3n de un reflect\u00f3metro \u00f3ptico de seis puertos en tecnolog\u00eda silicio-sobre-aislante (soi), empleando gu\u00edas rib con un solo paso de grabado. El reflect\u00f3metro de seis puertos est\u00e1 compuesto de tres acopladores de interferencia multimodal (mmis) y se fabrica en un solo paso de grabado. Su dise\u00f1o se inici\u00f3 con un exhaustivo an\u00e1lisis de tolerancias de las gu\u00edas de interconexi\u00f3n curvas, que han de tener un grabado poco profundo para asegurar su funcionamiento monomodo. A continuaci\u00f3n se desarroll\u00f3 una completa metodolog\u00eda de dise\u00f1o para mmis basados en gu\u00edas rib, que arroja dispositivos de alto rendimiento y altas prestaciones. Se dise\u00f1\u00f3 una m\u00e1scara con estructuras de prueba para los mmis individuales y las uniones de seis puertos, que se fabric\u00f3 en el centro canadiense de fabricaci\u00f3n fot\u00f3nica. Para caracterizar de manera sencilla y precisa los dispositivos se propusa una t\u00e9cnica de fase m\u00ednima, que s\u00f3lo requiere medidas de potencia transmitida y da informaci\u00f3n an\u00e1loga a ofdr. Con esta t\u00e9cnica se caracterizaron tanto los mmis como la uni\u00f3n de seis puertos sin necesidad de depositar recubrimientos antireflectantes, ya que las reflexiones espurias se pueden eliminar de las medidas. Los mmis fabricados presentan una combinaci\u00f3n de tama\u00f1o compacto, altas prestaciones y elevadas tolerancias sin precedentes, y la uni\u00f3n de seis puertos se comporta como un reflect\u00f3metro casi ideal. Adem\u00e1s, la tesis abarca el dise\u00f1o y caracterizaci\u00f3n una novedosa red de acoplo chip fibra para hilos de silicio, basado en conceptos de medios efectivos y que puede fabricarse en un
