Dicho estudio se circunscribe de un modo concreto la revisi\u00f3n y replanteamiento del criterio historiogr\u00e1fico como metodolog\u00eda cient\u00ed\u00c2\u00acfica de intervenci\u00f3n, orientada a la preservaci\u00f3n de los valores que aglutina el organismo urbano. La principal l\u00ednea argumental de la investigaci\u00f3n, parte del estudio en roma y de tentativas italianas, en lo referente a la elaboraci\u00f3n de teor\u00edas sobre restauraci\u00f3n de la arquitectura y la ciudad, as\u00ed como de la normativa sobre tutela del patrimonio urbano durante la primera mitad del siglo xx. El estudio del contexto italiano facilit\u00f3 el contacto con modelos de referencia de suma importancia, que sirvieron para extrapolar experiencias al contexto espa\u00f1ol, confron\u00c2\u00actando experiencias de dos ciudades hist\u00f3ricas que hab\u00edan sufrido alteraci\u00f3n y ruptura de la continuidad de sus teji\u00c2\u00acdos urbanos, como era el caso de roma y m\u00e1laga. otra de las l\u00edneas de la investigaci\u00f3n ha consistido en efectuar un an\u00e1lisis de la disciplina del restauro urbano a nivel te\u00f3rico, puesto que desde el punto de vista acad\u00e9mico, se trata de una disciplina joven que proviene de la ex\u00c2\u00acpansi\u00f3n del \u00e1rea espec\u00edfica de la restauraci\u00f3n monumental. Hemos pretendido ratificar la necesidad de formular teo\u00c2\u00acr\u00edas sobre la tutela de la ciudad hist\u00f3rica en espa\u00f1a y conformar una verdadera historiograf\u00eda que las recogiese en una firme tradici\u00f3n cultural, por ello era necesario confrontar ambos contextos. por otra parte, el n\u00facleo de la investigaci\u00f3n se ha concretado en mostrar la importante repercusi\u00f3n de dos figuras claves en la tutela de la ciudad hist\u00f3rica durante la primera mitad del siglo xx: gustavo giovannoni y leopoldo torres balb\u00e1s, en italia y espa\u00f1a respectivamente. Se ha atendido al estudio de sus respectivas trayectorias restaura\u00c2\u00acdoras, docentes e investigadoras, estableciendo ciertos paralelismos y divergencias entre ambas figuras, dentro del marco
