Estas c\u00e9lulas se caracterizan por su habilidad para dar lugar a todos los linajes celulares del organismo. Dentro del embri\u00f3n, las c\u00e9lulas pluripotentes representan una fracci\u00f3n din\u00e1mica del n\u00famero total de c\u00e9lulas y su existencia fisiol\u00f3gica est\u00e1 constre\u00f1ida a los estad\u00edos mas tempranos en mam\u00edferos y en especial las c\u00e9lulas madre embrionarias, permiten la caracterizaci\u00f3n de este estado celular. En los cuatro cap\u00edtulos incluidos en esta tesis hemos tratado dos aspectos diferentes de la caracterizaci\u00f3n molecular de las c\u00e9lulas pluripotentes. Primero, hemos investigado el establecimiento del trofoectodermo y de la masa celular interna en el embri\u00f3n midiendo la abundancia de los tr\u00e1nscritos de mrna y la presencia de los factores de transcripci\u00f3n implicados en el primer proceso de diferenciaci\u00f3n celular conocido.  adem\u00e1s, hemos evaluado la estabilidad gen\u00f3mica de dos l\u00edneas de c\u00e9lulas madre en cultivo durante m\u00e1s de 40 pases celulares. Como resultado hemos observado la acumulaci\u00f3n de aberraciones a nivel subcariot\u00edpico, en especial la p\u00e9rdida de heterozigosidad que afecta a locus que contienen genes implicados en el mantenimiento de la estabilidad gen\u00f3mica. Tambi\u00e9n hemos comprobado el estatus gen\u00f3mico euploide de dos l\u00edneas de c\u00e9lulas madre embrionarias humanas derivadas a partir de embriones diagnosticados como aneuploides despu\u00e9s de un diagn\u00f3stico gen\u00e9tico preimplantacional. El an\u00e1lisis molecular de estas dos l\u00edneas descart\u00f3 la hip\u00f3tesis de una autocorrecci\u00f3n de las aneuploidias detectadas y la derivaci\u00f3n de las l\u00edneas a partir de estos
