Dicha identificaci\u00f3n se basa en el empleo de etiquetas que transmiten un c\u00f3digo identificativo cuando as\u00ed se les requiere por parte de otro dispositivo, llamado lector. La mayor\u00eda de dichas etiquetas son pasivas, lo que significa que ellas permanecen inactivas hasta que atraviesan el campo electromagn\u00e9tico generado por un lector, siendo la energ\u00eda de la que se dispone bastante limitada. Las grandes ventajas y el bajo coste de estas etiquetas ha provocado un gran desarrollo de esta tecnolog\u00eda, extendiendo su uso no s\u00f3lo a aplicaciones simples de identificaci\u00f3n sino a otras m\u00e1s complejas donde la seguridad juega un papel importante. Proporcionar seguridad a esos dispositivos no resulta sencillo fundamentalmente por tres motivos: la propia naturaleza de rfid donde las etiquetas est\u00e1n dise\u00f1adas para responder sin ninguna intervenci\u00f3n humana, el canal radio puede ser f\u00e1cilmente accedido e interceptado y los recursos disponibles (hardware y energ\u00eda) para implementar soluciones criptogr\u00e1ficas son muy limitados. en esta tesis se han analizado y mejorado algunos de los mecanismos de autenticaci\u00f3n propuestos para rfid. M\u00e1s espec\u00edficamente, los siguientes casos han sido desarrollados: protocolos de limitaci\u00f3n espacial, la familia de protocolos hb, y el epcgen2. los protocolos de limitaci\u00f3n espacial combinan t\u00e9cnicas criptogr\u00e1ficas y f\u00edsicas para certificar la distancia a la que las etiquetas se encuentran. En este trabajo se dan los principios generales de dise\u00f1o para estos protocolos y dos nuevos protocolos han sido propuestos. Los protocolos de la familia hb son soluciones basadas matem\u00e1ticamente en la dureza del problema lpn (learaing parity with noise), que posibilitan el dise\u00f1o de soluciones criptogr\u00e1ficas con recursos muy limitados.
