El trabajo desarrollado en esta tesis fue determinar la distribuci\u00f3n, especiaci\u00f3n y posible bioacumulaci\u00f3n de metales y tbts (as\u00ed como sus productos de degradaci\u00f3n dbt y mbt) en diferentes sedimentos de estuarios y organismos marinos. El estudio se realiz\u00f3 en tres zonas diferentes, una situada en espa\u00f1a y otras dos en la india: la costa suroeste de la pen\u00ednsula ib\u00e9rica, donde se eligieron 6 zonas de estudio: r\u00edo guadiana, huelva, r\u00edo guadalquivir, c\u00e1diz, barbate y algeciras; respecto a la india se realiz\u00f3 un estudio situando varias estaciones a lo largo del curso del r\u00edo ganges (ne de la india)  desde calcuta hasta las marismas de sunderban y por \u00faltimo en el estuario de zuari en la costa oeste de la india. Los metales seleccionados para este estudio fueron zn, cd, pb, cu, ni, co, hg y el metaloide as y fueron determinados a partir de diferentes t\u00e9cnicas anal\u00edticas.  para determinar la calidad ambiental de los sedimentos de un estuario es necesario no s\u00f3lo los datos de contaminaci\u00f3n sino los posibles efectos t\u00f3xicos que puedan tener sobre los organismos. Para ello se realizaron test de toxcidad cr\u00f3nica bajo condiciones controladas en laboratorio e in situ con los siguientes organimos: poliquetos de la especie arenicola marina, cangrejos carcinus maenas y almejas de las especies ruditapes philippinarum y ruditapes decussatus con el fin de determinar la posible bioacumulaci\u00f3n a lo largo del tiempo de los contaminantes
