En este trabajo se han estudiado los mecanismos de actuacion del no, centrandose fundamentalmente en los receptores que utiliza, y sobre que tipos celulares actua. Tambien se estudia el efecto del no sobre las celulas del pgn.  para ello se realizo registro extracelular, en el ngld y en el pgn de gatos adultos anestesiados y paralizados. Se utilizaron pipetas multiples de 7 canales que permiten el registro de la actividad celular y al mismo tiempo la eyeccion iontoforetica de farmacos.  los resultados obtenidos demuestran que tanto en el ngld como en el pgn, el no actua de forma especifica sobre el receptor nmda, facilitando la respuesta mediada por este receptor y sin afectar de forma significativa a la respuesta mediada por otros receptores de aminoacidos excitadores (acido kainico, ampa&#8230;) Ni de otros neurotransmisores funcionantes a este nivel (ach). Este efecto no parece estar mediado por el cgmp. Por ultimo se demuestra que el no realiza su funcion sobre la propia celula de relevo del ngld, sin poder descartar que una parte de esta se realize sobre los terminales sinapticos de las aferencias
