El uso de esta especie para incrementar la variabilidad gen\u00e9tica de los trigos cultivados se facilita con la construcci\u00f3n de un mapa f\u00edsico que contenga marcadores moleculares capaces de detectar cromatina de h. Chilense en el fondo gen\u00e9tico del trigo. Con este objetivo, se ha estudiado  la transferencia al genoma de h. Chilense de 312 marcadores de la cebada cultivada (h. Vulgare). los marcadores utilizados incluyen expressed sequence tags (est),simple sequence repeat (ssr or microsatellite), sequence tag sites (sts) y single nucleotide polimorphism (snp). De 98 marcadores transferidos, 48 (48, 9 %) mostraron polimorfismo entre  h. Chilense y trigo duro y harinero. La localizaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica de los marcadores polim\u00f3rficos en el genoma de h. Chilense se ha llevado cabo utilizando l\u00edneas de deleci\u00f3n terminal de h. Chilense y de translocaci\u00f3n h. Chilense-trigo. Los cambios estructurales en los cromosomas de h. Chilense se han inducido mediante la acci\u00f3n de genes gametocidas. Se han obtenido diez l\u00edneas fertiles y estables que contienen cambios estructurales y num\u00e9ricos en los cromosomas 3hch, 4hch y 6hch de h. Chilense en el fondo gen\u00e9tico de trigo harinero y trit\u00f3rdeo. Las l\u00edneas se han caracterizado citol\u00f3gicamente mediante fish (fluorescence in situ hybridization) y se han utilizado para el mapeo f\u00edsico de 66 marcadores moleculares en diferentes regiones cromos\u00f3micas de h. Chilense. El mapeo f\u00edsico comparativo entre h. Vulgare y h.
