El proceso de infecci\u00f3n entre ambos est\u00e1 estrechamente regulado para asegurar la correcta penetraci\u00f3n del microsimbionte en las c\u00e9lulas vegetales. En este trabajo, comprobamos que la celulasa celc2 de rhizobium leguminosarum bv. Trifolii es esencial en el proceso de infecci\u00f3n can\u00f3nico en tr\u00e9bol ya que genera un orificio espec\u00edficamente en el \u00e1pice no cristalino del pelo radical, por el que penetra la bacteria. Por otra parte, el gen celc, se encuentra muy conservado dentro del g\u00e9nero rhizobium y su sobreexpresi\u00f3n provoca la formaci\u00f3n de canales de infecci\u00f3n y n\u00f3dulos aberrantes y un aumento de la competitividad de las bacterias. Estos fenotipos son resultado de la hidr\u00f3lisis incontrolada de la celulosa no cristalina, cuya distribuci\u00f3n en la planta se restringe a los puntos de infecci\u00f3n primaria y secundaria. Por otra parte, la expresi\u00f3n heter\u00f3loga de la celulasa celc2 en sinorhizobium meliloti 1021, provoca un retraso en la nodulaci\u00f3n y en la fijaci\u00f3n de nitr\u00f3geno en plantas de medicago, lo que sugiere que la infecci\u00f3n mediada por endoglucanasas no se limita a trifolium. Adem\u00e1s, la aplicaci\u00f3n del enzima purificado altera el patr\u00f3n de los pulsos de calcio inducidos por los factores de nodulaci\u00f3n y a la expresi\u00f3n de las nodulinas tempranas. Por tanto, estos datos indican la importancia de una estrecha regulaci\u00f3n en la producci\u00f3n de enzimas degradativos de la pared celular vegetal en los rizobios para que la nodulaci\u00f3n sea efectiva. Por \u00faltimo, la celulasa celc2 est\u00e1 involucrada en la bios\u00edntesis de celulosa en rhizobium, que act\u00faa a su vez en la formaci\u00f3n de biopel\u00edculas tanto in planta como in vitro.
