Tdl aparece con un fenotipo mas maduro y semejante a los linfocitos de sangre periferica (pbl) que al de los linfocitos de decidua de primer trimestre (edl). En tdl las subpoblaciones principales estan representadas por:  linfocitos t cd3+, integrados por celulas cd4+ y cd8+, que en su mayor parte son tcralfa-beta+; celulas nk cd16+cd56+ y una peque\u00f1a proporcion de linfocitos cd20+ o linfocitos b. Al igual que en edl, tdl presenta claros signos de activacion. Finalmente pruebas funcionales \u00abin vitro\u00bb se observo que tdl no es expontaneamente citotoxico frente a trofoblasto pero si disminuyen la adhesividad de las celulas diana a la superficie de cultivo. Por otro lado, los tdl seconvierten en citotoxicos tras el cultivo de los linfocitos con il-2.  el cultivo de los tdl con il-2 se tradujo en incremento de las celulas que expresan antigenos de
