Poaceae, graminae (c. Citratus) es una planta originaria de la india, que crece en muchos pa\u00edses tropicales y subtropicales, como la rep\u00fablica de angola, donde se le conoce como t\u00e9 caxinde. Este t\u00e9 se consume como bebida arom\u00e1tica y se utiliza en la cocina tradicional por su sabor a lim\u00f3n, pero tambi\u00e9n se utiliza en la medicina popular, en infusiones y cocciones de las hojas, presentan propiedades antiespasm\u00f3dicas y antihipertensivas. El aceite esencial del c. Citratus se emplea frecuentemente en la industria arom\u00e1tica y de fragancias y en la industria farmac\u00e9utica se utiliza como una fuente de fotoqu\u00edmicos para el desarrollo de nuevos productos. El trabajo de la presente tesis tiene como objetivo , a partir de plantas obtenidas de la rep\u00fablica de angola,caracterizar qu\u00edmicamente y evaluar la actividad antioxidante de los extractos etan\u00f3licos, metan\u00f3licos y acuosos del te de caxindey, analizar la composici\u00f3n cualitativa y cuantitativa del aceite esencial del c. Citratus. Asimismo se determina su actividad antibacteriana contra cepas de staphylococcus aureus (atcc 25923), staphylococcus epidermidis (atcc 12228), escherichia coli (atcc25922), klebsiella penumoniae (atcc 13883), porteus mirabilis (atcc 25933) y de cepas multiresistentes  aisladas de ambientes hospitalarios. el aceite esencial se obtuvo por hidrodestilaci\u00f3n de plantas secas y se analiz\u00f3 por cromatograf\u00eda de gases\/espectrometr\u00eda de masas (gc\/ms). La identificaci\u00f3n de los componentes  ha sido posible pr el \u00edndice de retenci\u00f3n y su espectro de masas, despu\u00e9s de la comparaci\u00f3n con una base de datos de referencia. La actividad antimicrobiana de las hojas del c. Citratus fue probadas por las t\u00e9cnicas de difucsi\u00f3n en disco y en diluci\u00f3n en agar. El extracto acuoso mostr\u00f3 mayor actividad antioxidante en comparaci\u00f3n con el antioxidante sint\u00e9tico. Tanto el aceite esencial  como los componentes principales del c. Citratus presentan in vitro una acci\u00f3n inhibitoria de las cepas de s. Aureus, s. Epidermidis  y e. Coli que es dependiente de la concentraci\u00f3n. La acci\u00f3n del aceite esencial tambi\u00e9n ha sido probada en las cepas hospitalarias multiresistentes a los antibi\u00f3ticos m\u00e1s frecuentes empleados, confirm\u00e1ndose su acci\u00f3n especialmente en las cepas bacterianas gram-positivas, tales com s. Aureus y s. Epidermis. Estos resultados sugieren que el aceite esencial del c.
