Estos sistemas se modelan mediante ecuaciones de segundo orden con rozamiento lineal. En primer lugar se estudian ecuaciones escalares de tipo \u00abduffing\u00bb y se obtienen condiciones sobre los parametros de la ecuacion que garantizan que cualquier solucion es global y asintoticamente estable. Estas condiciones son optimas ya que, cuando no se cumplen, siempre existen fuerzas externas que pueden desestabilizar el sistema. Se estudia tambien el caso en que la \u00abfuerza externa\u00bb es periodica y se determina para que valores del periodo se pueden producir fenomenos de resonancia. Posteriormente se estudia la ecuacion que describe el movimiento de un pendulo de longitud variable. Se consiguen condiciones necesarias y suficientes para que esta ecuacion pueda tener todos sus equilibrios inestables y condiciones necesarias y suficientes para que tenga soluciones no acotadas. Por ultimo, se estudian sistemas de ecuaciones de varias variables que provienen de la discretizacion espacial de ecuaciones de evolucion en derivadas parciales. Se consiguen resultados similares a los del caso escalar aunque no son optimos. Estos resultados se aplican a las discretizaciones de varias ecuaciones en derivadas parciales (ecuacion de sine-gordon, ecuacion del puente de lazer y mckenna y ecuacion del
