Las repeticiones en t\u00e1ndem de secuencias cortas, conocidas como microsat\u00e9lites, son componentes importantes de la variabilidad gen\u00e9tica humana. Aunque durante mucho tiempo se consider\u00f3 que los microsat\u00e9lites, son componentes importantes de la variabilidad gen\u00e9tica humana. Aunque durante mucho tiempo se consider\u00f3 que los microsat\u00e9lites no ten\u00edan una funci\u00f3n espec\u00edfica dentro del genoma, estudios recientes indican que estas secuencias pueden tener un importante papel en la organizaci\u00f3n y funci\u00f3n g\u00e9nica. Por tanto, variaciones en la longitud de los mismos podr\u00edan constituir factores de riesgo, a\u00fan sin explorar, para la susceptibilidad a estas y otras enfermedades. \ten este trabajo hemos analizado, mediante dos estudios caso-control, la posible relaci\u00f3n entre la longitud de ciertos microsat\u00e9lites polim\u00f3rficos situados en los genes ar, cyp19, e2f4, egfr y notch4 y el c\u00e1ncer de mama. Tambi\u00e9n hemos estudiado la relaci\u00f3n entre microsat\u00e9lites situados en los genes ar y cyp19 con la resistencia a insulina.  Los resultados de estos estudios muestran una asociaci\u00f3n entre la longitud de los microsat\u00e9lites (cag)n, (ggc)n, del gen ar y (ttta)n de cyp19 tanto con el c\u00e1ncer de mama como con variables relacionadas con la resistencia a insulina.  En cambio no observamos ninguna relaci\u00f3n entre la longitud de los microsat\u00e9lites (ca)n del gen egfr y (ctg)n de notch4 y el c\u00e1ncer de mama.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos
