Se ha demostrado que la exposici\u00f3n a la radiaci\u00f3n ionizante es un factor ambiental de riesgo al c\u00e1ncer de tiroides. Asimismo, en la etiolog\u00eda de la enfermedad juegan un papel importante los factores gen\u00e9ticos.  el objetivo principal de este trabajo es estudiar la susceptibilidad gen\u00e9tica  al c\u00e1ncer de tiroides asociada a las regiones cromos\u00f3micas 1p12 y 8q. Siguiendo un dise\u00f1o epidemiol\u00f3gico caso-control, de una poblaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola de 881 individuos (402 pacientes con c\u00e1ncer de tiroides y 479 controles sanos). La tecnolog\u00eda iplex se utiliz\u00f3 para el an\u00e1lisis de diez  polimorfismos de la regi\u00f3n 1p12 y siete polimorfismos de la regi\u00f3n 8q.  en la regi\u00f3n 1p12 el an\u00e1lisis de haplotipos revel\u00f3 que la combinaci\u00f3n de ciertas variantes del gen wdr3, tal como el haplotipo cat, aumenta el riesgo de c\u00e1ncer de tiroides (or= 1,85, ic 95% = 0,97-3, 55, p = 0,063). Adem\u00e1s, tanto la transcripci\u00f3n del rnam como la expresi\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna del gen wdr3 fueron alterados en c\u00e9lulas humanas de c\u00e1ncer de tiroides. Por otra parte, en la regi\u00f3n 8q  los dos polimorfismos rs6983267 y rs1447295, y dos polimorfismos del gen trhr no mostraron asociaci\u00f3n con el c\u00e1ncer de tiroides. Tampoco se encontr\u00f3 asociaci\u00f3n para el polimorfismo del ex\u00f3n 33 del gen tg. Sin embargo, los dos polimorfismos del ex\u00f3n 10-12 del gen  tg se asociaron con un mayor riesgo del c\u00e1ncer de tiroides (or = 1,80, ic 95% = 1,30-2,50, p <0,001).  nuestros resultados han involucrado por primera vez las regiones del genoma 1p12 y 8q en la susceptibilidad al c\u00e1ncer de tiroides, sugiriendo su implicaci\u00f3n en la etiolog\u00eda del c\u00e1ncer de
