Dicha transformaci\u00f3n consta de dos etapas, siendo la primera de ellas la isomerizaci\u00f3n del doble enlace c=c del alcohol al\u00edlico para generar un compuesto carbon\u00edlico intermedio que, en una segunda etapa, sufre la reducci\u00f3n del enlace c=o. en el cap\u00edtulo 2 se presenta la s\u00edntesis y caracterizaci\u00f3n de una familia variada de complejos hidrosolubles de rutenio(ii) y rutenio(iv) de f\u00f3rmula general [rucl2(\u00c2\u00bf6-areno)(l)] y [rucl2(\u00c2\u00bf3:\u00c2\u00bf3-c10h16)(l)] (l = fosfina hidrosoluble), respectivamente,  as\u00ed como estudios preliminares sobre el anclaje de los mismos en nanopart\u00edculas magn\u00e9ticas fe3o4@sio2. Estos derivados han mostrado ser catalizadores muy eficientes para la hidrataci\u00f3n selectiva de nitrilos en amidas en medio acuoso y bajo condiciones de ph neutro. en el cap\u00edtulo 3 se describe la actividad catal\u00edtica de los complejos hidrosolubles de rutenio(ii) y rutenio(iv) sintetizados en el cap\u00edtulo 2 en reacciones de adici\u00f3n de \u00e1cidos carbox\u00edlicos a alquinoles empleando agua como disolvente. Dicho proceso, que permite acceder a \u00edY-oxo\u00e9steres con buenos rendimientos, no contaba hasta la fecha con precedentes  bibliogr\u00e1ficos en medio acuoso. por \u00faltimo, en el cap\u00edtulo 4 se recogen una serie de estudios sobre otros procesos catal\u00edticos que transcurren en medios de reacci\u00f3n no convencionales, y que constituyen nuevas metodolog\u00edas sint\u00e9ticas, eficientes y selectivas de inter\u00e9s en qu\u00edmica org\u00e1nica.
