Sin embargo, la falta de la informaci\u00f3n estructural sobre este receptor obstaculizado el desarrollo de nuevos y potente f\u00e1rmacos de gran selectividad y bajo efecto secundario. Tal informaci\u00f3n estructural, puede lograrse por medio de la experimentaci\u00f3n con t\u00e9cnicas biof\u00edsicas que requieren grandes cantidades de receptor puro. Teniendo en cuenta que en condiciones fisiol\u00f3gicas la expresi\u00f3n de receptores acoplados a prote\u00ednas g (gpcr) es baja, la sobreproducci\u00f3n del receptor es un pre-requisito para que los estudios estructurales puedan ser realizados. Adem\u00e1s, aunque se ha establecido que los gpcr sufren modificaciones post-translationales y que en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os un significante n\u00famero de reportes sugieren que estas modificaciones est\u00e1n estrechamente vinculadas a las funciones del receptor, poco se ha avanzado en el estudio de estas modificaciones en el campo de algunos gpcrs, como es el caso de m3r. En este estudio, nosotros describimos algunas estrategias para mejorar la expresi\u00f3n de los receptores muscar\u00ednicos en c\u00e9lulas de mam\u00edferos garantizando unas correctas modificaciones post-translacionales. Adem\u00e1s, hemos sido capaces de extraer altos niveles de receptor funcional a partir de c\u00e9lulas cos-7 con una combinaci\u00f3n de detergentes, purificamos el receptor m3r cerca de la homogeneidad, mantenimiento de la totalidad de las propiedades biol\u00f3gicas encontradas en el receptor silvestre. En relaci\u00f3n a las modificaciones post-translationales estudiadas, nuestros resultados proporcionan la primera evidencia del papel cr\u00edtico de las cadenas de n-glicanos en la
