Los esfingol\u00edpidos tienen funciones estructurales y de mensajeros secundarios en procesos de homeostasis celular. en esta tesis se exploran dos aspectos de los esfingol\u00edpidos. Por una parte se exploran los raft lip\u00eddicos de membranas celulares, compuestos por esfingomielina y colesterol, y c\u00f3mo la modulaci\u00f3n de la actividad de la dihidroceramida desaturasa provoca un aumento de dihidroesfingol\u00edpidos, en concreto de dihidroesfingomielina. Esta acumulaci\u00f3n altera las propiedades biof\u00edsicas de las membranas y reduce la capacidad del virus vih-1 de infectar c\u00e9lulas diana. por otra parte, se estudia el efecto de acumulaci\u00f3n de dihidroesfingol\u00edpidos, a trav\u00e9s de la modulaci\u00f3n de la actividad de la dihidroceramida desaturasa, en la inducci\u00f3n del flujo autof\u00e1gico en c\u00e9lulas cancer\u00edgenas. El uso de inhibidores qu\u00edmicos de la enzima logra los mismos efectos de inducci\u00f3n de la autofagia que compuestos qu\u00edmicos ya descritos como inductores de la
