Monitorizar no es \u00fanicamente medir y almacenar las caracter\u00edsticas de la se\u00f1al respecto del tiempo para una posterior evaluaci\u00f3n de los datos, supone adem\u00e1s detectar los eventos que se producen y clasificar la se\u00f1al en t\u00e9rminos del tipo de evento. en este trabajo de investigaci\u00f3n se presentan diferentes esquemas de clasificaci\u00f3n basados en transformadas tiempo-frecuencia, utilizadas como herramientas para la extracci\u00f3n de caracter\u00edsticas, combinadas con t\u00e9cnicas de inteligencia artificial, usadas como algoritmo clasificador. En las transformadas tiempo-frecuencia se utilizan la transformada wavelet y la transformada de stockwell, proponi\u00e9ndose a partir de esta \u00faltima un patr\u00f3n formado por caracter\u00edsticas sencillas y asociadas a las distintas clases de perturbaciones. Se aplica de forma novedosa la transformada de stockwell optimizada a la clasificaci\u00f3n de las perturbaciones el\u00e9ctricas. Por \u00faltimo, se propone un sistema experto basado en reglas que mejora los resultados de sistemas m\u00e1s cl\u00e1sicos. Debido a la simplicidad y eficiencia de estas reglas el sistema funciona adecuadamente clasificando incluso perturbaciones complejas de una forma robusta. El comportamiento del sistema ha sido comprobado con se\u00f1ales sint\u00e9ticas generadas mediante modelos matem\u00e1ticos, para las que se han propuesto diversas mejoras, tambi\u00e9n con se\u00f1ales obtenidas a partir de simulaci\u00f3n de eventos de explotaci\u00f3n en sistemas el\u00e9ctricos de potencia y, por \u00faltimo, con se\u00f1ales reales obtenidas mediante medidas
