La presente investigaci\u00f3n se centra en la evoluci\u00f3n fenomenol\u00f3gica de la barrera de arcilla y su influencia sobre los procesos de corrosi\u00f3n del contenedor. Dado que la experimentaci\u00f3n realizada tiene como fin su proyecci\u00f3n a situaciones reale s, se ha realizado una aproximaci\u00f3n lo m\u00e1s realista posible al sistema de barreras artificiales, utilizando las proporciones, par\u00e1metros de operaci\u00f3n y materiales considerados en el agp espa\u00f1ol. Los resultados se han analizado e integrado considerand o el cambio de escala a las condiciones espacio-temporales reales.  los ensayos se llevaron a cabo en celdas herm\u00e9ticas que permiten la aplicaci\u00f3n de gradientes t\u00e9rmicos e hidr\u00e1ulicos similares a los esperados. Para simular la interacci\u00f3n entre la ba rrera de arcilla y el contenedor se emplearon bloques de bentonita compactada en contacto con hierro en polvo o placas de acero al carbono.   los resultados revelan que, bajo condiciones insaturadas, los fen\u00f3menos de corrosi\u00f3n son localizados y est\u00e1n  relacionados con la distribuci\u00f3n de agua y solutos en la bentonita y la precipitaci\u00f3n de cloruros en las zonas pr\u00f3ximas al contenedor. La secuencia de productos de corrosi\u00f3n se inicia con la formaci\u00f3n de hidr\u00f3xido f\u00e9rrico, que se transforma en lepid ocrocita y goethita. Por deshidrataci\u00f3n de \u00e9stos se obtiene hematita y maghemita. Tras la saturaci\u00f3n de la bentonita, la corrosi\u00f3n generalizada ser\u00e1 el mecanismo predominante. El hidr\u00f3xido ferroso y la magnetita ser\u00e1n las fases mayoritarias alcanz\u00e1nd ose velocidades de corrosi\u00f3n de 2.2 a 5.5 ?M\/a\u00f1o. No se observ\u00f3 ning\u00fan tipo de alteraci\u00f3n mineral\u00f3gica de la bentonita, ya que los productos de corrosi\u00f3n dificultan la difusi\u00f3n del hierro.
