En la presente memoria de tesis doctoral se describe el aislamiento biodirigido y elucidaci\u00f3n estructural de dichos compuestos a partir de las especies cubanas agave offoyana y furcraea hexapetala.  de las hojas de agave offoyana se obtuvieron 21 saponinas esteroidal, las conocidas como agabrittonosidos a, b, c y d,  kataravi\u00f3sido a y la cantalasaponina-1, as\u00ed como las descritas por primera vez como maguey\u00f3sido a, b, c, d, e, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, \u00f1, o. Por su parte, de las flores se obtuvo 1 flavonoide (kanferol) y 8 saponinas. De estas \u00faltimas, 4 (maguey\u00f3sido c; maguey\u00f3sido e; 3-o-(\u00edY-d-xilopiranosil-(1-3)-\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-2))(\u00edY-d-xilopiranosil-(1-3))-\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-4)-\u00edY-d-galactopiranosil-25r-3\u00edY-hidroxiespirostan-12-ona y 3-o-\u00edY-d-xilopiranosil-(1-3)-(\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-2))-\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-4)-\u00edY-d-galactopiranosil-25r-3\u00edY-hidroxiespirostan-12-ona) se han descrito de las hojas; otras 3 son conocidas como agabrittonosidos a,  karatavi\u00f3sido a y 3,6-di-o-(\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil)-25r-espirost-3\u00edY,6\u00c2\u00bf-diol, as\u00ed como la descrita por primera vez como maguey\u00f3sido f. de las hojas de furcraea hexapetala se aislaron 6 saponinas, las conocidas como cantalasaponina-1, agamer\u00f3sido-1, furcreastatina, 3-o-(\u00c2\u00bf-l-ramnopiranosil-(1-4)-\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-3))(\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-3)-\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-2))-\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-4)-\u00edY-d-galactopiranosil-5\u00c2\u00bf,25r-espirost-3\u00edY,12\u00edY-diol y 3-o-(\u00c2\u00bf-l-ramnopiranosil-(1-4)-\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-3))(\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-3)-\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-2))-\u00edY-d-glucopiranosil-(1-4)-\u00edY-d-galactopiranosil-5\u00c2\u00bf,25r-3\u00edY-hidroxiespirostano, as\u00ed como la descrita por primera vez como furcr\u00f3sido a. desde los primeros extractos hasta los productos puros, se probaron en ensayos biol\u00f3gicos de fitotoxicidad mediante la germinaci\u00f3n y el desarrollo de las especies modelos (sts) lactuca sativa l. (Lechuga), lepidium sativum l. (Berro), lycopersicum esculentum will. (Tomate) y allium cepa l. (Cebolla), con el fin de documentar cient\u00edficamente los usos dados a estas plantas por algunos campesinos cubanos. Finalmente se demuestra actividad fitot\u00f3xica de los compuestos mayoritarios, con lo cual tambi\u00e9n se ampl\u00edan las posibilidades biol\u00f3gicas de esta familia de productos
