Aunque el papel fundamental de la mstn es la regulaci\u00f3n de la masa muscular tambi\u00e9n puede jugar un papel en otros tejidos como m\u00fasculo card\u00edaco, tejido adiposo, gl\u00e1ndula mamaria, hueso, cerebro, \u00fatero y test\u00edculos o c\u00e9lulas hematopoy\u00e9ticas.   en el presente estudio se ha analizado el papel de la mstn en la regulaci\u00f3n de la hematopoyesis, tanto in vivo como in vitro, estudiando sus efectos sobre la proliferaci\u00f3n, diferenciaci\u00f3n y supervivencia de distintos tipos de c\u00e9lulas hematopoy\u00e9ticas, as\u00ed como las v\u00edas de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n implicadas.  nuestros resultados muestran que la mstn ejerce un efecto positivo sobre la formaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas hem\u00e1ticas de estirpe mieloide, sin afectar a las c\u00e9lulas linfoides. En el caso concreto de las c\u00e9lulas hl-60, la mstn estimula la diferenciaci\u00f3n y supervivencia celular, sin afectar a la proliferaci\u00f3n; mientras que en las k562 produce una marcada estimulaci\u00f3n de la diferenciaci\u00f3n celular acompa\u00f1ada de una disminuci\u00f3n del n\u00famero de c\u00e9lulas. Estos efectos se acompa\u00f1an de un aumento de la fosforilaci\u00f3n de p38-mpak (hl-60 y k562) y erk (hl-60), lo que sugiere que ambas prote\u00ednas podr\u00edan ser las responsables de los efectos observados.  por \u00faltimo hemos observado que en los experimentos in vivo realizados la ausencia de mstn no produce cambios marcados sobre la hematopoyesis, probablemente debido a la existencia de otros factores que compensan su ausencia y a los cambios fenot\u00edpicos que produce la ausencia de mstn y que, secundariamente podr\u00edan ser capaces de modificar la
