Cada una de estas funciones implica uno de los tipos de subunidades que componen c4bp, las cadenas alfa y beta c4bp es una proteina de fase aguda que presenta una regulacion diferencial de los niveles de expresion de sus polipeptidos alfa y beta.  en este trabajo presentamos un estudio sobre los mecanismos moleculares que controlan la expresion de los genes humanos que codifican las cadenas alfa y beta de c4bp, c4bpa y c4bpb. Hemos determinado que el promotor del gen c4bp se encuentra en los primeros 350 bp. Desde el sitio de iniciacion de la transcripcion, y que el promotor del gen c4bjpb se localiza en los primeros 243 bp. Desde el sitio mayoritario de iniciacion. La actividad de estos dos promotores se encuentra restringida a celulas de origen hepatico en ensayos funcionales. En ambos promotores hemos caracterizado elementos reguladores que interaccionan con factores de transcripcion hepaticos. Por ultimo, el estudio comparativo de la organizacion de estos promotores permite proponer las bases moleculares de la regulacion diferencial de los genes c4bpa y c4bpb durante la respuesta de fase
