Este proceso es llevado a cabo por un complejo macromolecular llamado spliceosoma y requiere el reconocimiento de las se\u00f1ales de splicing en el pre-mrna. Estas se\u00f1ales no son siempre identificados correctamente, lo que permite la producci\u00f3n de distintos tr\u00e1nscritos a partir de un \u00fanico pre-mrna mediante un proceso llamado splicing alternativo. Este proceso puede ser regulado mediante factores proteicos espec\u00edficos o por otros mecanismos que alteren el reconocimiento de las se\u00f1ales de splicing como la estructura secundaria adoptada por pre-mrnas.  en esta tesis hemos investigado los mecanismos de regulaci\u00f3n del splicing en eucariotas mediante t\u00e9cnicas computacionales. Tambi\u00e9n hemos estudiado la relaci\u00f3n existente entre las prote\u00ednas que intervienen en la regulaci\u00f3n del splicing y las se\u00f1ales de splicing, y como han coevolucionado en diferentes especies. Finalmente, y teniendo en cuenta las posibilidades que el splicing alternativo ofrece desde el punto de vista evolutivo, tambi\u00e9n hemos analizado el impacto del splicing alternativo en la
