Para ello, se ha hallado un procedimiento de cuantificaci\u00f3n de esta variabilidad ya que la secreci\u00f3n de los metabolitos secundarios var\u00eda entre tejidos, estaciones, edad e interanualmente. Por ello, antes de estudiar la variabilidad en la s\u00edntesis de los compuestos del metabolismo secundario en c. Ladanifer, habr\u00eda que cuantificar estas diferentes variaciones. As\u00ed, se determinar\u00eda con mayor precisi\u00f3n la variabilidad fenot\u00edpica de una poblaci\u00f3n de c. Ladanifer en la secreci\u00f3n de los metabolitos secundarios. Seg\u00fan nuestro procedimiento, deber\u00edamos elegir muestras de hojas j\u00f3venes en verano, oto\u00f1o o invierno; o bien de hojas maduras en verano, oto\u00f1o o primavera en individuos con una edad comprendida entre 7 a 12 a\u00f1os. Aplicando estos criterios se ha encontrado una gran variabilidad intra e interpoblacional en la secreci\u00f3n de estos compuestos siendo mayor la inter que la intrapoblacional. Adem\u00e1s las condiciones ambientales hacen que los distintos genotipos respondan diferente ante distintos estreses ambientales, poniendo de manifiesto la plasticidad en la secreci\u00f3n de metabolitos secundarios de c. Ladanifer.  esta variaci\u00f3n puede tener consecuencias evolutivas ya que la selecci\u00f3n natural podr\u00eda aumentar la frecuencia de los genotipos con mayor aptitud.  en conclusi\u00f3n, los individuos de esta especie ser\u00edan capaces de desarrollar el fenotipo \u00f3ptimo en distintos ambientes, lo que la caracterizar\u00eda como una especie
