Estos metilidendioles son transformados  en perhidrofurofuranos sustituidos en la posici\u00f3n 2.  en el cap\u00edtulo 3 se explora la posibilidad de obtener otros 3-metiliden-1,5-dioles m\u00e1s funcionalizados, empleando reacciones eno-carbonilo y su posterior transformaci\u00f3n en los correspondientes perhidrofuro[2,3-b]furanos sustituidos en la posici\u00f3n
