Con este objetivo, hemos evaluado el papel que juega galectina-1 (gal-1) &#8211; una prote\u00edna altamente sobreexpresada en el estroma tumoral- en la progresi\u00f3n tumoral pancre\u00e1tica. Hemos encontrado que gal-1 interact\u00faa con el activador tisular del plasmin\u00f3geno (tpa), participando en la migraci\u00f3n, activaci\u00f3n de erk1\/2 y en la invasi\u00f3n in vitro, tanto en c\u00e9lulas tumorales pancre\u00e1ticas como en fibroblastos, sugiriendo una importancia crucial de esta interacci\u00f3n en la comunicaci\u00f3n entre el tumor y el estroma. Adem\u00e1s, nos hemos centrado en la identificaci\u00f3n bioqu\u00edmica de los dominios de interacci\u00f3n entre gal-1 y tpa. Tambi\u00e9n hemos abordado el papel de gal-1 en la progresi\u00f3n tumoral pancre\u00e1tica in vivo, utilizando modelos murinos (xenografts y transg\u00e9nicos) y el pez cebra. Hemos encontrado que gal-1 participa en la proliferaci\u00f3n, angiog\u00e9nesis, formaci\u00f3n del estroma y en la necrosis de los tumores pancre\u00e1ticos de los ratones ela-1-myc, as\u00ed como en la metaplasia acinar-ductal. Estos efectos se traducen en un incremento importante y significativo en la supervivencia de los ratones ela-1-myc con niveles reducidos de gal-1. Tambi\u00e9n ha sido analizado el papel que juega gal-1 en el desarrollo embrionario pancre\u00e1tico murino, encontrando paralelismos interesantes con la progresi\u00f3n tumoral. Finalmente, hemos estudiado los mecanismos moleculares involucrados en los efectos producidos por gal-1 durante el desarrollo tumoral pancre\u00e1tico mediante microarrays. Nuestros datos  sugieren la utilizaci\u00f3n de gal-1 como una nueva diana terap\u00e9utica para luchar contra el c\u00e1ncer de p\u00e1ncreas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la
