En mam\u00edferos, la activaci\u00f3n de la sapk p38 da lugar a la regulaci\u00f3n de la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica a trav\u00e9s de la fosforilaci\u00f3n de varios factores de transcripci\u00f3n. Sin embargo, c\u00f3mo p38 sapk regula el programa de expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica de adaptaci\u00f3n al estr\u00e9s as\u00ed como los mecanismos utilizados por la sapk permanece sin caracterizar. Los resultados presentados en este manuscrito muestran que p38 sapk juega un rol central en la regulaci\u00f3n de la expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica en respuesta a estr\u00e9s, ya que hasta el 80% de los genes inducidos son dependientes de p38 sapk. Tambi\u00e9n observamos que en respuesta a cada tipo de estr\u00e9s se induce un grupo de genes espec\u00edficos, y s\u00f3lo hay una peque\u00f1a respuesta de genes comunes a los diferentes tipos de estr\u00e9s la cual  engloba principalmente factores de transcripci\u00f3n. Adem\u00e1s, hemos observado que para regular la transcripci\u00f3n, p38 se recluta a los promotores de respuesta a estr\u00e9s a trav\u00e9s de su interacci\u00f3n con factores de transcripci\u00f3n. Asimismo, la actividad de p38 permite el reclutamiento de la rna polimerasa ii y de la mapkk mkk6 a los promotores inducidos por estr\u00e9s. La presencia de p38 activa en las regiones codificantes sugiere su participaci\u00f3n durante la elongaci\u00f3n. En conjunto, los resultados mostrados en este manuscrito establecen a p38 como un regulador esencial de la transcripci\u00f3n en respuesta a estr\u00e9s, as\u00ed como definen nuevas funciones de p38
