Se clon\u00f3 el gen regulardor de xlnr de a. Nidulans. el producto g\u00e9nico deducido, llamado xlnr, es una prote\u00edna de 875 amino\u00e1cidos que presenta en la regi\u00f3n aminotermianl el motivo zn(ii)2cys6, que caracteriza a un grupo de activadores transcripcionales de ascomicetes. Adem\u00e1s posee una regi\u00f3n rica enprolina, varios motivos sp (t) xx y una regi\u00f3n de localizaci\u00f3n nuclear, similares a los descritos en otras prote\u00ednas reguladoras. La disrupci\u00f3n del gen xlnr afecta la producci\u00f3n de las xilanasas x22, x24, y x34 y la de la b-xilosidasa como consecuencia de la p\u00e9rdida de transcripci\u00f3n de los genes codificantes. De ello se deduce que la prote\u00edna xlnr es el activador transcripcional del sistema xilanol\u00edtico de a. Nidulans. El producto del gen xlnr no afecta la transcripci\u00f3n del gen abfb y en consecuencia la producic\u00f3n de la arabiono furanosidasa b y tampoco regula al producci\u00f3n de ramnosidasa. los estudios de regulaci\u00f3n demostraron que al expresi\u00f3n del gen xlnr est\u00e1 regulada por glucosa y en ausencia de esta fuente de carbono existe una desrepresi\u00f3n , y que su transcripci\u00f3n no es inducible por xilosa ni se autoregula. Adem\u00e1s la expresi\u00f3n del gen xlnr no est\u00e1 regulada por el ph amibental. Respecto al comportamiento de los genes estructurales existe un requerimiento absoluto por xilosa para su transcripci\u00f3n. La falta de coincidencia en la transcripci\u00f3n  del gen reguladores y los genes estructurales en algunas condicones de cultivo sugiere una regulaci\u00f3n postranscripcional del gen. Se proponen dos mecanismso diferentes de expresi\u00f3n de los genes estructurales del complejo xilanol\u00edtico en relaci\u00f3n con la fuente de carbono: un mecanismo de represi\u00f3n en cascada para los genes xlna y xlnd y una represi\u00f3n indirecta para los genes xlnb y xlnc.
