Los procesos de penetraci\u00f3n, infecci\u00f3n e invasi\u00f3n de las c\u00e9lulas vegetales por parte de la bacteria est\u00e1n, en parte, determinados por la expresi\u00f3n de genes de la planta. Estos procesos, a\u00fan poco conocidos, han sido relacionados con la expresi\u00f3n de enzimas modificadora de la pared celular, en respuesta a la presencia de la bacteria. En un trabajo anterior se aisl\u00f3,clon\u00f3 y caracteriz\u00f3 parcialmente un gen de pligalacturonasa de medicago sativa, mspg3, cuya expresi\u00f3n se induce de forma espec\u00edfica durante la interacci\u00f3n de esta planta con sinorhizobium meliloti. Para caracterizar la localizaci\u00f3n celular y la regulaci\u00f3n transcripcional de la expresi\u00f3n de mspg3, se expres\u00f3 en diferentes leguminosas una fusi\u00f3n de 2,7 kb del promotor de dicho gen al gen informador gus. La expresi\u00f3n de esta fusi\u00f3n en c\u00e9lulas del primorido nodular y en la zona de invasi\u00f3n de n\u00f3dulos transg\u00e9nicos de v. Hirsuta y v. Sativa sugiere la implicaci\u00f3n del producto de mspg3 en el proceso de infecci\u00f3n. La expresi\u00f3n de la citada fusi\u00f3n en plantas transg\u00e9ncias de m. Truncatula se localiza de forma espc\u00edfica en el n\u00f3dulo. se han determinado las secuencias responsables de esta especificidad mediante la expresi\u00f3n de cinco fusiones entre fragmentos del promotor de mspg3 (600,413,306,205 y 92 pb) y el gen sgus. Si bien 205 pb del promotor de mspg3 fueron capaces de dirigir la expresi\u00f3n del gen  informador en ra\u00edces y flores, se requieren 600 pb del mismo para que la expresi\u00f3n de dicho informador se localice en el n\u00f3dulo. Este mismo resultado se obtuvo al expresar estas fusiones en ra\u00edces y n\u00f3dulos transg\u00e9nicos de v. Hirsuta.
