Como aspectos te\u00f3ricos se desarrollaron: la cuesti\u00f3n de la empat\u00eda, intersubjetividad y relaciones interpersonales, la comunicaci\u00f3n corporal, la empat\u00eda como habilidad a desarrollar, la relaci\u00f3n odont\u00f3logo-paciente, la \u00e9tica as\u00ed como el ejercicio de la odontolog\u00eda, usando como marco de referencia el modelo integrador propuesto por ken wilber. El tipo de investigaci\u00f3n fue descriptivo transversal, la muestra estuvo constituida por 675 estudiantes. Se utiliz\u00f3 la escala de empat\u00eda m\u00e9dica de jefferson versi\u00f3n \u00c2\u00bfs\u00c2\u00bf, psicom\u00e9tricamente validada para medir la empat\u00eda en el contexto de educaci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica y otras carreras de la salud. Para el an\u00e1lisis de los resultados se aplic\u00f3 la estad\u00edstica descriptiva e inferencial, el paquete estad\u00edstico utilizado fue el spss versi\u00f3n 16. Como resultados se encontr\u00f3 que el promedio de los puntajes de empat\u00eda obtenido por los estudiantes de primer a\u00f1o es significativamente menor que en los estudiantes de tercer y quinto a\u00f1o al igual que el promedio de los puntajes de los factores toma de perspectiva y atenci\u00f3n con compasi\u00f3n. El promedio de los puntajes del factor ponerse en el lugar del paciente es similar en los estudiantes de primero, tercero y quinto a\u00f1o de la carrera de odontolog\u00eda y fueron los \u00edtems que concurren en este factor los que obtuvieron la m\u00e1s baja puntuaci\u00f3n para los tres grupos. La empat\u00eda obtenida por estudiantes de g\u00e9nero femenino no difiere estad\u00edsticamente de los estudiantes de g\u00e9nero masculino para la poblaci\u00f3n en estudio. Es necesario cultivar durante toda la formaci\u00f3n del futuro profesional los aspectos \u00e9ticos human\u00edsticos con la empat\u00eda como pilar fundamental de las relaciones positivas odont\u00f3logo paciente. palabras claves: empat\u00eda, relaciones interpersonales, \u00e9tica en la relaci\u00f3n odont\u00f3logo-paciente, factores de la empat\u00eda, estudiantes de odontolog\u00eda.   this research was aimed to analyze the degree of empathy presented by the students during training at first, third and fifth year of the faculty of dentistry, university of carabobo. As theoretical aspects were developed: the question of empathy, intersubjectivity and interpersonal relationships, body language, empathy as an ability to be developed, the dentist-patient relationship, ethics as well as the practice of dentistry using as framework the comprehensive view from ken wilber. The type of research was descriptive cross-sectional, sample consisted of 675 students. It was used the empathy scale jefferson medical \u00abs\u00bb version, psychometrically validated to measure empathy in the context of medical education and other health careers. For the analysis of the results was applied descriptive and inferential statistics, the statistical package used was spss version 16. As a result it was found that the average empathy scores obtained by the first year students is significantly lower than in third and fifth year students as the average of the scores of the factors perspective taking and care with compassion. The average factor scores to take the place of the patient is similar in students of first, third and fifth years of the dentistry career and the items present in this factor obtained the lowest score for the three groups. Empathy obtained by female students is not statistically different from male students for the study population.
