Adem\u00e1s, al ser biodegradables y provenir de recursos renovables, ofrecen importantes ventajas desde el punto de vista medioambiental y econ\u00f3mico. Sin embargo, los films basados en prote\u00ednas son fr\u00e1giles y presentan una baja resistencia a la humedad, por lo que se requiere su modificaci\u00f3n para fabricar materiales \u00fatiles en las condiciones de servicio.El objetivo de esta tesis es reducir la absorci\u00f3n de humedad y simult\u00e1neamente mejorar las propiedades mec\u00e1nicas de los materiales fabricados con prote\u00edna de soja. Para ello es necesaria la adici\u00f3n de sustancias que puedan interaccionar con los grupos polares de la prote\u00edna, reduciendo as\u00ed su car\u00e1cter hidrof\u00edlico y la absorci\u00f3n de humedad, y que a la vez puedan actuar como plastificantes, reduciendo la fragilidad del material fabricado. Adem\u00e1s, las condiciones de procesado tambi\u00e9n influyen en las propiedades del material, por tanto, la optimizaci\u00f3n del procesado es otro de los objetivos de la tesis.Para poder conseguir la mejora de las propiedades del material y, en concreto, aquellas requeridas por el sector del envase, como son las propiedades mec\u00e1nicas y la resistencia a la humedad, la tesis se ha centrado en tres \u00e1reas: plastificaci\u00f3n por adici\u00f3n de glicerol;
