B\u00e1sicamente  consiste en hacer pasar un gas contaminado a trav\u00e9s de un medio poroso donde anida la biomasa que lleva a cabo la degradaci\u00f3n de los contaminantes, generando productos no nocivos. El presente estudio se ha centrado en aportar soluciones a una de las principales limitaciones que presentan estos sistemas biol\u00f3gicos: el excesivo tiempo empleado por la biomasa para adaptarse a los contaminantes y degradarlos eficazmente.Se ha desarrollado una sistem\u00e1tica de aclimataci\u00f3n que ha permitido acortar el tiempo de adaptaci\u00f3n de la biomasa espec\u00edfica para la eliminaci\u00f3n de compuestos org\u00e1nicos vol\u00e1tiles (covs). Estos compuestos, m\u00e1s espec\u00edficamente los tex (tolueno, p-xileno y etilbenceno), son uno de los grupos de contaminantes m\u00e1s habituales a nivel industrial, e incluso en ambientes interiores.
