The objective of this work is to study the relationship of different markers of sepsis, both biochemical and haematological, in cord blood samples taken from infants; that were previously classified in groups according to the presence or absence of risk factors (infectious, prematurity, other causes, or confirmed early neonatal sepsis). biochemical markers sepsis (crp, pct and il-6) and haematological in cord blood have not proved useful in the diagnosis of early neonatal sepsis, and clinical data continue to be the most decisive. New techniques of molecular biology in cord blood were indicative of the presence of suspected infection in those neonates with one or several factors of risk of infection. word keys: early-onset
