Cholinesterases (ches) are the enzymes responsible for hydrolysis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, releasing at cholinergic synapses and neuromuscular junctions. In humans, there are two types of ches, acetylcholinesterase (ache) and butyrylcholinesterase (buche), both enzymes are also involved in alternative non-neuronal processes.  regarding cancer, there are experimental data linking ches with fundamental cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, angiogenesis and immune response. The role of autocrine growth factors in the stimulation of lung cancer growth is well established. these enzymes are affected in expression, activity and structural properties at gene and\/or protein level in various histological subtypes of lung carcinomas that opens the possibility for its use as tumor markers. keywords: lung, cancer, acetylcholine, acetylcholinesterase.  estudio de las propiedades de acetilcolinesterasa y butirilcolinesterasa en el tejido pulmonar humano y sus alteraciones en distintos tipos histol\u00f3gicos de c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas no peque\u00f1as.  el c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n es la causa principal de mortalidad por c\u00e1ncer en el mundo. las colinesterasas (ches) son las enzimas responsables de la hidr\u00f3lisis del neurotransmisor acetilcolina (ach), liberado en las sinapsis colin\u00e9rgicas y en las uniones neuromusculares. En los humanos se distinguen dos tipos de ches, la acetilcolinesterasa (ache) y la butirilcolinesterasa (buche), ambas enzimas tambi\u00e9n intervienen en procesos alternativos. respecto al c\u00e1ncer, hay datos experimentales que asocian a las ches en procesos fundamentales como la proliferaci\u00f3n, diferenciaci\u00f3n, angiog\u00e9nesis y la respuesta inmune.
